Preservation Studios worked with developer Peter Landers to transform six buildings of outdated office space into the new headquarters for Constellation Brands. The project was completed in two phases and involved several design challenges including a rooftop patio, parking ramp, fenestration changes, and integrating modern design within the industrial nature of the interiors. Constellation Brands is a Fortune 500 Company with 9,000 employees and relocated from the Rochester suburbs to give new life to this massive complex in the heart of downtown.

The complex is comprised of late nineteenth / mid-twentieth century buildings, built in seven sections and located alongside the Genesee River. The first industrial development of the site began in 1870 when the Arcade Mills (Building 6) was constructed. Between 1901 and 1953, the company acquired five buildings constructed between 1870 and ca.1892 and embarked upon four building campaigns that would expand and connect most of the complex. The period of significance ends in 1953 with the company’s final expansion: the purchase of a former 1875 mill (Building 7). The Lawyers Cooperative Publishing Company Complex represents a rare remaining collection of factory buildings built between 1870 and 1948 that are associated with the nationally significant publisher and printer.
Preservation Studios facilitated the complete historic tax credit application process, including the National Register listing.
